Sometimes a simple idea becomes a huge success. The plan to make a magazine in 24 hours with 80 talented people guided by professionals turned out great and showed the full potential of the network of creative people around DJBroadcast.
National TV station NOS thought DJB24 is a cool thing as well and paid the Melkweg a visit to make a flashy report on the day:

We had to change the comfy chairs for wooden stools for we have al grown a pair of wings at BPM’s headquarters with all the projects we are doing for Red Bull. Our trusty team members have flown all over the country for Red Bull Music Academy events in Groningen (Festival Stage), Rotterdam (Info Session), and Amsterdam (Info Session).
During the Info Session with I-F (IFM) and Dennis Ruyer (Radio 538) in the Sugar Factory in Amsterdam, Red Bull opened the Red Bull Music Academy Sound Gallery, the studio that serves as a hub for Dutch radio-talent. Over 50 crews (Delsin, Clone, Carnivale, Manual Music, New Cake, Electronation, etc.) are responsible for live shows every day between 19:00 and 23:00 CET via www.djbroadcast.fm. Furthermore live gigs from Sugar Factory and Melkweg will be broadcast regularly.

We are very happy to announce a renewed partnership with our dear friends, the people at the Amsterdam Dance Event HQ. Once more we will create the official ADE Magazine, take care of some of the event’s online content and be involved with the day program of the conference. This year’s dates are set on 20, 21, 22, 23 October.
ADE’s conference has become the most important of its kind, providing the international electronic music industry an extensive platform to do business, to exchange knowledge and keep up to date on the latest developments and trends.
In 1989 Reebok launched the very first pair of the Pump sneaks, shoes that offer athletes a perfect fit by simply pressing the Pump button. Now, 20 years later, the Reebok Pump series are known and loved by sneaker freaks around the world.
To honour the Pump series, DJBroadcast designed a spread advertorial showing a still life with objects from the time when the Pumps hit the shops for the first time, and of course the new line of Pumps.
The accompanying text says it all:
Pump up the jam, pump it up
While your feet are stompin’, and the jam is pumpin’
Look at here the crowd is jumpin’
Pump it up a little more, get the party going on the dance floor
Seek us that’s where the party’s at, and you’ll find out if you’re too bad
I don’t want a place to stay, get your boody on the floor tonight
Make my day.
On Wednesday February 17th DJBroadcast treats its readers and some selected media on an exclusive pre-premiere of Daniel Barber’s new feature film Harry Brown with an allstar cast amongst which you find actors like Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Iain Glen, Jack O’Connell, and Liam Cunningham.
This flick is about an elderly ex-serviceman and widower looks to avenge his best friend’s murder by doling out his own form of justice. So be prepared for some cool dialogues and graphic violence.
The screening takes place in a very cool underground location in downtown Amsterdam, and is only accessible to a limited amount of people. Want to be there? Send an e-mail to nick@blueprintmedia.nl and get lucky!
For the second time our editors have produced a magazine for MusicXport.nl. The first one evolved around Dutch artists performing during the Amsterdam Dance Event. This time around, the mag was all about talented Dutchies showcasing their skills at the EuroSonic Noorderslag weekender.
Although we’ve moved on towards other styles and disciplines than just dance since long, people still perceive DJBroadcast as a magazine on electronic music. With jobs like this we can show the outside world our versatility and support talented kids from around the block in the process. Could it get any better?
The cover features Moke by Anton Corbijn, furthermore the MXP mag holds interviews with people like Laura Jansen, Go Back To The Zoo, Eric Vloeimans, C-Mon & Kypski, Applescal, Anton Pieete, and many more cool items. The magazine was given to every foreign music professional attending the EuroSonic Noorderslag showcase festival, and very well reveived!
We’ve just given birth to our bi-monthly baby: DJB Magazine #42 has hit the streets and it’s beautiful if we may say so. With another paper upgrade (both cover and inside) it’s hard to imagine that you can get it for free at 500 spots all over The Netherlands.
Number 42 is the yearly talent issue. The ‘10 van 2010′ is an eight page photo-shoot featuring the choice of the connoisseurs when it comes to the people who will take the next few steps in their career in music, wether it’s dj’s, bands, producers, or electronic live acts. Other features in the mag include Jeff Mills, Erosie, Mayer Hawthorne, Chez Damier, and Deadbeat. So go check out!
Oh what a night; ehwooowhamwhamwhamksssjjjjj- ehwooowhamwhamwhamksssjjjjj-eeh-eeh-eeeeje!! The Red Bull Music Academy Radio Stage feat. Sub:stance at EuroSonic was all about that thing called dubstep.
Selecta’s in the house were Appleblim, Scuba, Slugabed, 2562, Loops Haunt, and Paul Spymania, ‘nuff said.
BPM was in charge of content and production, and it all ran smoothly. Although there was heaps of parties across town presenting the most talented artists from all over Europe, we had a full house and a packed floor. The whole night was broadcasted via DJBroadcast.fm, and presented by our very own dj (in the Jamaican sense of the term) Eric. Missed out on this wonky fest? No worries, you can check out the podcasts of the night here.
This party was the first of a series of Red Bull Music Academy events this year. Follow the Dutch branch of the Academy here (in Dutch).
